Anand needed real-time infrastructure to build a synchronized video player. No suitable service existed at an accessible price, so he built one himself. websocket.in launched as a free managed WebSocket service for the developer community.

Anand Singh started writing software to solve problems he personally encountered. The first was a synchronized video player for watching movies with friends. To build it, he needed real-time infrastructure — so he built that too, and gave it to the developer community for free.
That free tool became PieSocket. PieSocket became Pie.host.
What started as a single infrastructure product expanded into a full cloud platform — databases, caching, storage, deployment, and more. Not through a top-down roadmap, but through developers asking for the next missing piece.
