About the REST API Tester

The REST API Tester lets you build and send HTTP requests — choosing a method, URL, headers, and body — and instantly inspect the response, all from within your browser using the native fetch API.

It's a fast way to explore an endpoint, verify authentication headers, check response timing, or debug an API without needing to install a dedicated client. Since requests are sent directly from your browser, the target server needs to allow cross-origin requests (CORS) for the call to succeed.

How to Use This Tool

1

Enter the request URL

Pick a method (GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE) and enter the endpoint you want to call.

2

Add headers and a body

Set custom headers as key/value pairs, and a JSON, form, or raw text body for write requests.

3

Click "Send Request"

The request runs directly from your browser using fetch — no data passes through a server.

4

Inspect the response

View the status code, response time, headers, and formatted body.

Common Use Cases

  • Debugging an API Endpoint: Quickly send a request and inspect the exact status, headers, and body an API returns.

  • Checking Response Times: Measure how long an endpoint takes to respond without setting up a full testing suite.

  • Verifying Auth Headers: Confirm a bearer token or API key header is being accepted before wiring it into your app.

  • Exploring a New API: Try out endpoints from documentation without writing any code first.

Why Use This Tool

Runs In Your Browser
