Auto-scaling
Autoscaling is built in for every product on Pie.host.
Every plan on the pricing page includes a defined resource quota. However, demand is not always predictable, and your application should perform just as smoothly during traffic spikes as it does during normal usage.
That is where autoscaling becomes valuable. Autoscaling is enabled by default on all paid plans and allows your services to temporarily consume resources beyond the included quota for an additional charge.
Autoscaling rates are listed on the pricing page.
Autoscaling is an opt-in feature, and you can disable it at any time under Resource Settings.
Why choose a larger plan if autoscaling exists?
There are two main reasons:
1. Lower cost Larger plans provide resources at a lower cost per unit. Relying entirely on autoscaling can become more expensive than upgrading to a bigger plan.
2. Guaranteed scaling capacity While Pie.host can and does autoscale to meet any demand, we guarantee up to 5× autoscaling capacity only relative to the quota included in your plan. Auto-scaling above that is subject to resource availability.
For example, if your plan includes 2 GB RAM, autoscaling is guaranteed up to 10 GB RAM.
