Billing Cycle
This document explains how the PieHost billing cycle works, how monthly and overusage charges are calculated, and what to do if you notice unexpected bills.
Monthly Billing Schedule
- PieHost follows a monthly billing cycle.
- Billing happens once every month.
- Each account has a fixed billing date.
- For most accounts, the billing date is the 1st day of the month.
The billing date for an account generally remains the same unless explicitly changed by PieHost support.
Overusage Billing
- Any overusage (usage beyond the included plan limits) is billed daily.
- Overusage charges are applied on the next day for the previous day’s usage.
This ensures that overages are reflected quickly and transparently instead of accumulating until the end of the month.
Hourly-Based Billing Model
- All resources on PieHost are billed on a per-hour basis.
- Because of this, the actual monthly bill may be slightly lower or higher than the advertised monthly plan price.
Bills are more/less than mentioned, in following scenarios
- February bills are usually lower because the month has fewer days.
- March bills are usually higher because the month has 31 days.
- If billing occurs on the 2nd day of the month instead of the 1st:
- The bill may include one extra day of usage.
- This extra day is automatically reimbursed (adjusted) in the next month’s bill.
Unexpected Invoices
If you notice bills that seem higher than expected:
- Review your active resources in the dashboard.
- Delete or stop any unused resources, such as:
- PieSocket instances
- PieApp deployments
- PieDB databases
- Any other running services
Unused but active resources continue to incur hourly charges until they are removed.
Summary
- Monthly billing happens once per month on a fixed date (usually the 1st).
- Overusage is billed daily, on the following day.
- Billing is hourly, so month length and billing date shifts can affect totals.
- Always clean up unused resources to avoid unexpected charges.
